Job Description
GS Automation is an integrator of intelligent Building Automation Systems (automatic temperature control, lighting, and energy management), Network Infrastructure, and Access Control and Security Systems serving clients across the United States. We work with facility owners, architects, engineers, contractors, and management companies to create innovative solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of our customers.
The Building Automation System Specialist Internship, under the supervision of the Building Automation System Project Manager, will teach qualified applicants to interface with customers and contractors to install and service
our clients’ Building Automation Systems and system controllers. This includes project start-up and commissioning, service (routine and emergency), and preventative maintenance. Applicants with basic networking and/or programming
experience preferred but not required.
Job Responsibilities
- Install, start-up, and commission Building Automation System controllers, perform point-to-point check-out prior to project completion
- Perform upgrades to existing Building Automation Systems
- Work in conjunction with Project Manager to ensure that projects are completed on time, in compliance and in accordance with contract specifications
- Perform any required software/hardware calibration for proper equipment and system operation, per product documentation
- Complete project commissioning documentation
- Maintain on-going project as-built documentation
- Setup and configure PC workstations, user interfaces, IP networking devices
- Provide operator training of installed systems and functionality
Required Knowledge and Skills
- Basic knowledge of low-voltage electrical components
- Basic knowledge of mechanical systems
- Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Basic understanding of IP networking
- Comfortable working in a construction environment
- Excellent organizational skills
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Ability to multi-task and work independently
